Can you imagine a world without photography ?
For me, my life's purpose was defined the day I picked up my first camera, and found a way to savour life through this wonderful medium.
I am a professional photographer who specialises in baby, child and family photography in Melbourne, Australia. My fascination with the camera began in 1985 and I turned full time professional in 1990, having soon realised it is the person and the passion behind the camera that make the image.
My home city of London was in the midst of a design boom during the 80s & 90s, and consequently I developed a certain professional polish to my style, initially by shooting architecture and interiors. I continued to take on a diverse range of assignments from studio product & packaging, through to some hairy moments photographing for Time Life books in the turbulent Middle East.
In late 1996 my life's path altered, following a ski brochure shoot in Switzerland, I found myself headed to Melbourne for further work. Upon arrival I not only fell in love with my future wife Lynda, but also with my new Australian lifestyle.
Having fully embraced digital photography while still shooting commercially, I naturally found myself in the role of official family photographer as our clan began to grow !
I believe we can really celebrate life through our children, and the wonderful enrichment they bring. Whilst extremely personally fulfilling, my work is most of all honest and playful. As such I prefer to use a combination of subtle flash with available light, and shoot in familiar locations such as in the comfort of the child's home.
As we all know little ones won't always smile on cue, but I find by entering the limitless world of the child through play (it helps that I am on the same mental level !) I am most often able to capture their spirit.
